If there’s one thing Tibet has plenty of, it’s sun and space.
On the Tibetan Plateau, a monumental energy project is taking shape. In Qinghai, the Talatan Solar Park now spans 420 square kilometers — about seven times as big as Manhattan. At an altitude of 3,000 meters, millions of solar panels capture the intense sunlight, while wind turbines and hydropower plants ensure a steady supply around the clock.
The project powers trains, EVs, and data centers, making the highlands almost energy self-sufficient.
