That’s how many packs of instant ramyeon the average Vietnamese ate last year. That even topped South Korea, where it originated.
🇻🇳 Saigon beats Seoul: Vietnamese people now eat more Korean noodles than Koreans themselves. At 81 packs per capita, they beat South Korea's per capita consumption of 79.2 and lead the global rankings, according to the World Instant Noodles Association (WINA).
🌏 Comparison & trend: Worldwide, ramyeon consumption in 2024 was around 123 billion packs. The next highest figures come from Thailand (57), Nepal (54), Indonesia (52), and Japan and Malaysia (47). In Europe, despite growing popularity, the average is less than 10 packs per person.
🔥 Watch: Ramyeon exports have risen by around 25% since the beginning of the year. Manufacturer Samyang Foods has now sold over 8 billion packs of its Buldak Ramyeon brand and there is no end in sight.
