🌳 Growth offensive: Between 2018 and June of this year, 115,359 tons of the coveted stinky fruit worth MYR 6.37 billion (USD 1.4 billion) were exported to China.
📈 5-year goal: By 2030, exports to new markets such as Taiwan and Peru are expected to grow to 69,000 tons and generate up to MYR 1.8 billion (USD 426 million).
🍧 Cool breakthrough: The export of frozen durians has given the business a particular boost since 2019. Since last year, fresh produce has also been allowed to be shipped to China.
Big picture: Malaysia's durian strategy is an economic policy project aimed at stabilizing the export base and positioning the country as a regional premium supplier of the fruit.
