HEAD OF THE DAY

🇯🇵 Yuya Nakamura

🛰️ Japan’s Satellite Maker: As a PhD student at the University of Tokyo, Yuya Nakamura launched his first microsatellites into space. In 2008, he founded Axelspace, frustrated by how slow and costly government space programs were.

With the AxelGlobe constellation, he aims to map the entire Earth every day. His satellites provide imagery for supply chains, agriculture, and climate research — data that was once prohibitively expensive.

👉 Lesson learned: Big opportunities emerge when you identify a bottleneck in an industry and solve it decisively. Nakamura opened access to space and turned it into a publicly listed business.
